Looking for a volunteer opportunity that provides the winning combination of puppets and kids? Join our puppeteer troupe. No experience needed! Training in puppetry skills (based on the Japanese art of Bunraku puppetry) is provided throughout the school year. Individuals can schedule free training sessions with our Program Director. Volunteer puppeteers commit to train and perform with the troupe for one year, presenting once per month in schools throughout Vermont (as scheduling allows).. Volunteers of all ages (14 years and up) and of all backgrounds are welcome.
Puppets in Education is a non-profit agency run by a group of committed board members. We seek a diverse group of individuals with expertise in business, finance, public relations, planning, fundraising and education. The greatest qualification for potential board members, however, is a desire and passion to help educate children on how to keep themselves safe and healthy and to appreciate each other’s physical and cultural differences.
If you have a desire to become involved, but aren’t ready for a full board commitment, consider contributing your expertise to one of the following board committees: Fundraising; Human Resources; Finance; Marketing/Public Relations; Nominating; and Strategic Planning. Committees meet once per month or as scheduled.
Located in the heart of Burlington’s Old North End, we offer a safe, convenient and fun environment in which you can work and share your time. Become a “behind the scenes” volunteer! Tasks include: data entry; filing; mailings; typing/computer work and other administrative tasks throughout the year. These volunteer positions are available for ages 13 and up and from all backgrounds and past work experience. For junior and high school students, we are a great way to fulfill your Community Service requirements!
Fundraising helps to keep “the kids” (i.e. puppets) “on the road,” reaching over 8,000 children throughout Vermont each year. Fundraising events ensure that we can continue to offer over 50% of our presentations for free! Take a look at our Events page and let us know if you can help in the pre-production, day of, or post-production of any of our fundraising events. It is an exciting volunteer position, one that allows you to enjoy the special events we hold. Plus, you get to see the puppets perform in their very best outfits!
